Childless widower Travis Carson runs his ancestral Montana ranch traditionally, treating devoted staff as family. Without modernizing, he's heading for bankruptcy by Christmas, so his LA banker Peter sends financial advisor Sara Bradley in a last ditch effort to save this old client.
She brings along to Big Fork her smartphone-addicted daughter Chloe, forced to spend a Christmas away from home the first time since husband-father Rob's death. They soon grow fond of the laid-back country ways and elaborate Christmas traditions Travis treasures from his late wife, for whom he dropped a New York lawyer career.
The bank grows impatient for suggestions to cut costs or generate income, but a seasonal solution is at hand.
