Synopsis

Ramiro Forteza, a goalkeeper in the Spanish Premier League, is forced by the rigors of the Civil War and the postwar period to earn a living in small villages, challenging the locals to score him a penalty.

One night, he arrives in an Asturian village and meets Manuela, a young widow with a son, who survives by sewing for Úrsula, the wife of Andrade, the sergeant of the Civil Guard.

But the exhibitions of Forteza and his relationship with Manuela attract the attention of Andrade, who will make a proposal related to the resistance movement that will involve the goalkeeper in the conflict.

The use of traditional Spanish music felt cliché and did not bring anything new or unique to the film. The repetitive motifs and predictable melodies failed to enhance the mood or atmosphere of the scenes, leaving me feeling disconnected from the characters and their struggles.

9/10

The use of traditional Spanish instruments in the soundtrack adds an authentic and cultural richness to the film. The incorporation of flamenco guitar, accordion, and violin creates a unique and evocative atmosphere that transports the audience to the Asturian village where the story unfolds. The music not only enhances the setting but also deepens the emotional impact of the characters' experiences, making the film even more poignant and memorable.

I found the soundtrack of El portero to be quite disappointing. The music did not effectively capture the emotional depth and intensity of the storyline. The lack of variety in musical themes made the listening experience monotonous and uninspiring.

James Lewis
2/10

Overall, I believe that the soundtrack of El portero missed an opportunity to elevate the storytelling and failed to leave a lasting impression on me as a viewer.

On the other hand, I felt that some of the musical cues in the soundtrack were a bit repetitive and predictable. While they helped set the mood for certain scenes, they also became somewhat monotonous after a while, diminishing the impact they could have had on the storytelling.

I found the soundtrack of El portero to be quite fitting for the setting of the film. The use of traditional Spanish music and folkloric elements added depth and authenticity to the scenes, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

The soundtrack of El portero perfectly captures the emotional depth of the film. The haunting melodies and melancholic tones beautifully complement the story of Ramiro Forteza and his struggles during the Spanish Civil War and postwar period. The music enhances every scene, evoking a sense of nostalgia and tragedy that truly immerses the viewer in the narrative.
