In Kenya, in the year 2013, girls between the ages of 6 and 15 are being "cut off." 85% of them suffer a total mutilation of their external genitalia for non-medical reasons. Long before they are fully grown, the girls line up and undergo this operation, without anesthesia or pain reliever and in unhygienic conditions. With the same blade, without any sterilization, they will all be "cut". Some will die of bleeding, others will contract HIV. The documentary "Excision" examines the consequences of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) through female portraits and demonstrates the effects of this action. It was filmed in Kenya in the Pokot Tribe area in January 2013.
