Synopsis

Exit Through the Gift Shop is a documentary film that follows the story of Thierry Guetta, a French immigrant living in Los Angeles who becomes obsessed with street art.

As he delves deeper into the world of street art, Thierry meets and befriends some of the most famous artists in the scene, including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Invader.

However, instead of just documenting their work, Thierry decides to become an artist himself, adopting the persona of Mr. Brainwash.

The film explores the blurred lines between art and commerce, as Thierry's work becomes a commercial success despite being criticized by some as derivative and shallow.

Exit Through the Gift Shop raises questions about the nature of art, authenticity, and the power of hype in the contemporary art world.
