Synopsis
Halfaouine: Boy of the Terraces is a coming-of-age film set in the Tunisian neighborhood of Halfaouine. The story follows Noura, a 12-year-old boy who is on the cusp of adolescence and navigating the complexities of growing up in a traditional Muslim society.
As Noura explores his neighborhood and interacts with the various characters who inhabit it, he begins to develop a curiosity about the adult world and the opposite sex. This curiosity leads him to sneak peeks at the women bathing in the hammam and to eavesdrop on conversations about love and relationships.
Throughout the film, Noura grapples with his own desires and the expectations placed upon him by his family and society. He must navigate the delicate balance between childhood innocence and the pressures of adulthood, all while trying to understand his place in the world.
