Synopsis

Dude is a comedy about four best girlfriends in the last two weeks of their senior year of high school. It's about dealing with the first real losses in life leaving your best friends, your first encounter with death, and the loss of time. It is about that odd mixture of grief and nostalgia experienced by young people as they try to understand these losses. It is also about getting stoned with your friends in your car while listening to hip-hop.

Hale will play Lily, a popular high school senior bound for NYU in the fall who knows she is good-looking and flaunts it accordingly. Very assertive and a control freak, Lily struggles to delegate even the smallest prom-related responsibilities. The glue of the group, she values her best friends over everything else even more than her beloved bong.

I found the soundtrack of Dude to be quite underwhelming. The music choices did not effectively capture the emotional depth of the characters' experiences as they navigated through loss and nostalgia. It felt like the songs were randomly selected without much thought to enhancing the storytelling.

Another aspect that disappointed me about the soundtrack of Dude was its lack of diversity in genres. Given the themes of the film, I expected a more eclectic mix of music styles that could resonate with a wider audience. The heavy reliance on hip-hop tracks during scenes of getting stoned in the car felt repetitive and uninspired, missing an opportunity to explore a broader range of musical expressions.
