Synopsis

Steven Russell is happily married to Debbie, and a member of the local police force when a car accident provokes a dramatic reassessment of his life. Steven becomes open about his homosexuality and decides to live life to the fullest - even if it means breaking the law. Steven's new, extravagant lifestyle involves cons and fraud and, eventually, a stay in the Texas State Penitentiary where he meets sensitive, soft-spoken Phillip Morris. His devotion to freeing Phillip from jail and building the perfect life together prompts Steven to attempt and often succeed at one impossible con after another.

The soundtrack of I Love You Phillip Morris failed to capture the emotional depth and complexity of the main characters' journey. The music felt generic and uninspired, lacking the nuance needed to enhance the storytelling.

Edward Taylor

The songs chosen for key moments in the film enhanced the impact of those scenes, making them more memorable and poignant.

4/10

The choice of songs in the soundtrack often felt disjointed and out of place, disrupting the flow of the narrative rather than enhancing it. The music seemed to distract rather than complement the on-screen action, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story.

The soundtrack's use of different musical styles and tones mirrored the complexity of Steven and Phillip's relationship, adding depth to their story.
