Jack's Back is a story about someone emulating Jack the Ripper, leading the entire police force to try to find him. A young doctor working in an inner city clinic encounters an old friend who is now a junkie and pregnant, seeking an abortion that the clinic's head refuses to perform.
Later, the doctor discovers another clinic doctor doing something suspicious to his friend and assumes he is the ripper. He tries to escape, but the man catches and kills him, leading the police to close the case, believing the doctor was the ripper.
However, as they place the body in an ambulance, a man who looks identical to the doctor walks by - his twin brother. The twin had dreamt of his brother's death, leading the police to consider if he could be the real ripper.
As the psychiatrist consulting the police hypnotizes the twin, he reveals intimate details that only someone with insider knowledge could know, raising suspicions about his involvement in the crimes. Meanwhile, the twin tries to uncover the truth behind his brother's death.
