Claire loves her husband David more than anything. His unexpected death shortly after returning from a business trip to Africa, where he managed development aid projects, throws her into a severe life crisis. Adding to the grief is a painful discovery: Claire finds out he was in a relationship with a high-end call girl.
Without sparing herself, the widow now wants to know who the man really was with whom she unsuspectingly lived. Neither David's boss Hagedorn, a friend of the couple, nor his discreet assistant Michael support their investigation. Claire stumbles upon large bonus payments for David from his publicly listed employer, which is actually dedicated to fighting poverty, secret photos of a massacre of defenseless farmers in Africa and accusatory reports on the Internet about bloody deals.
Not only do these discoveries make Claire shudder, but she always feels like she's being watched and strange things happen when she's alone. Now the woman, who has been under psychiatric treatment for years, begins to distrust everyone around her. Even herself. Claire suspects implications that terrify her beyond belief.
