Synopsis

King Petar the First

Petar Karadjordjevic was exiled from Serbia as a young boy, by the competing dynasty of Obrenovic. He was denied the opportunity to create a lasting bond with the country that gave birth to him, the people whose king he could have been, and the titles that belongs to him.

Under historical circumstances, he returns to Serbia, institutes a parliamentary democracy, and starts to rebuild the country. But Serbia's progress comes to a halt by the offset of WWI, preceded by the Sarajevo assassination. Austro-Hungarian Empire's desire to punish Serbian people ensues.

After the heroic Battle of Cer and the Battle of Kolubara, Serbian government proclaims the retreat as the only option. With tremendous losses, the Serbian Army arrives at the island of Corfu and Vido - the island of death, but also of Serbian resurrection.
