Synopsis

Los girasoles ciegos is a novel written by Alberto Méndez that tells the story of four characters during the Spanish Civil War and the early years of Franco's dictatorship.

The first story is about a Republican soldier who is imprisoned and tortured by the Nationalists. He is forced to dig his own grave and is eventually executed.

The second story follows a priest who is torn between his faith and his desire for a woman. He struggles with his beliefs and ultimately makes a decision that has tragic consequences.

The third story is about a young boy who is sent to a boarding school run by priests. He witnesses the abuse and corruption within the school and eventually rebels against the authority figures.

The final story revolves around a man who is forced to hide his true identity in order to survive. He lives in fear of being discovered and must constantly adapt to his surroundings in order to stay alive.
