Police captain Emma Thélier is on holiday at her mother's in the Charente-Maritime region when, while jogging in the forest, she discovers a man's corpse. Because of her knowledge of the area and the initial findings, Emma is put in charge of the investigation. But she has to work with the gendarme captain Adrien Klévec, recently transferred here and with whom she spent the previous night. They weren't supposed to meet again but now they are embarrassed at having to work together. Pretending it never happened, they start trying to find out who shot the victim with a silver bullet. But new murders are committed. What are these murders covering up: a romantic drama, a family conflict, money issues...? Or are they acts of desperation? Emma and Adrien soon start to complement each other at work. Her instincts and his Cartesian spirit combine to help them along the path towards the truth. They manage to ignore their attraction to each other - but for how long?
