Lane Speer is a 16-year-old girl who spends her family vacations camping in the mountains. She takes her memories for granted until she loses her father to cancer. Just a year later, Ella Lane is still reeling from the death of her father when her mother marries a boy Ella Lane barely knows, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To top it off, while on their honeymoon, they arrange for her to stay hers with her LDS step-aunt, who takes her to a Bible-themed girls' camp with a group of LDS youth. Faced with memories of her camping with her family, she tries to find peace with her new surroundings and deal with the death of her father.
