Synopsis

"Quills" is a historical drama film that tells the story of the infamous Marquis de Sade, a French writer known for his explicit and controversial works. The film explores the relationship between de Sade and the staff at the Charenton Asylum, where he is imprisoned for his scandalous writings. As de Sade continues to write and publish his work, the asylum's director, Dr. Royer-Collard, becomes increasingly determined to silence him. However, de Sade's defiance and creativity only seem to grow stronger in the face of adversity. The film delves into themes of censorship, freedom of expression, and the power of art in challenging societal norms. With a stellar cast including Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet, and Joaquin Phoenix, "Quills" is a thought-provoking and visually stunning exploration of one man's fight against oppression and the enduring legacy of his work.
