Synopsis

Sierra Burgess Is a Loser is a modern retelling of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac story set in high school. Sierra is a smart, talented, and plus-sized teenager who doesn't fit the typical mold of a high school beauty queen. When a case of mistaken identity leads to her texting with the popular and handsome jock, Jamey, Sierra decides to keep up the charade in order to win his heart.

As Sierra and Jamey's relationship deepens through their texts and phone calls, Sierra enlists the help of her beautiful but mean-spirited classmate, Veronica, to pose as her in person. The deception becomes more and more complicated as Sierra struggles to keep up the facade while also dealing with her own insecurities and self-doubt.

Throughout the film, Sierra Burgess Is a Loser explores themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the importance of being true to oneself. As Sierra navigates the ups and downs of high school life, she learns valuable lessons about friendship, love, and the power of being authentic.
