Mixing a full fantasy-adventure with the 3D's isometric graphics and side-scrolling platform of the 8-bits NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Solstice starts when evil wizard Morbius kidnaps Princess Eleanor of Arcadia to unleash Evil in the winter solstice. Shadax, a powerful wizard and Eleanor's protector, starts a quest by the rooms of dangerous Kâstleröck to find the six parts of the lost Staff of Demnos, the only one magic weapon able to defeat Morbius. Travel by a castle full of enemies like worms, blobs, skeletons, giant eye-headed robes, goblins and trolls, spikes and spike-balls. Pick-up boxes to jump higher and push bubbles to move above them if there isn't ground to walk. Discover hidden rooms and platforms to avoid a sure death and locate detonators to open another rooms. Down the underground and labyrinthine dungeons. Collect magic keys, flying boots, hats for extra lives, the four different potions (blue for invincibility, purple to destroy all enemy in a room, yellow to stop time and green to reveal invisible objects) and coins to preserve the progress. Find different portals to teletransport from a place to another and watch the map to orient, but look out: time is running out, and not all the parts of the Staff are so easy to find.
