After years of emotional and physical abuse from his father, Tony bounces back and forth for many years with more emotional abuse from a multitude of jobs and bad relationships that prevented any tangible sense of Sanctuary. He has been like being repeatedly bitten or strangled by a silent snake. His close friend and psychiatrist, Joe, provides support and encourages Tony to continue his self-discovery and awareness.
