Synopsis

Haunted by the past, long lost and thought to be dead adventurer James Delaney, whose father was a shady English businessman and mother a Native American woman his father obtained as part of a trade deal with her people, returns to London from Africa in 1814, during the real-life War of 1812 fought between the US and the UK until 1815, to rebuild his late father's shipping company.

He soon discovers that his father had many debts and even more enemies who all now want him dead as well. Both the Crown and the US want his father's small but valuable land on Nootka Sound in North America at all costs, while his main business competitor, the East India Company, wants him dead either way.

After barely surviving several assassination attempts, Delaney finds some allies including his half-sister and their supposed stepmother he never knew about.
