The Canyons is a psychological thriller film directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis. The story follows a group of young adults living in Los Angeles who become entangled in a web of deceit and betrayal.
Christian, a wealthy trust fund kid, is dating Tara, an aspiring actress who is also involved with Ryan, a struggling actor. As their relationships become more complicated, secrets are revealed and tensions rise.
As the group embarks on a weekend getaway to a remote cabin in the canyons, their true intentions are exposed and the situation quickly spirals out of control. Jealousy, obsession, and manipulation take center stage as the characters are forced to confront their darkest desires.
With a dark and gritty atmosphere, The Canyons explores the seedy underbelly of Hollywood and the lengths people will go to in order to get what they want. The film is a haunting look at the destructive power of ambition and the consequences of crossing moral boundaries.
