Synopsis

The Cry of the Owl is a psychological thriller novel written by Patricia Highsmith. The story follows Robert Forester, a man who is going through a difficult divorce and decides to move to a small town to start over.

One day, Robert becomes infatuated with a young woman named Jenny, whom he watches from a distance. However, his voyeuristic behavior soon takes a dark turn when he is accused of stalking her.

As the story unfolds, Robert finds himself embroiled in a web of deceit and betrayal, with Jenny's ex-boyfriend playing a key role in the unfolding drama.

Throughout the novel, Highsmith explores themes of obsession, paranoia, and the blurred lines between reality and fantasy. The tension builds as Robert's actions become increasingly erratic, leading to a shocking climax that will leave readers questioning the nature of truth and perception.
