The Equalizer is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington. The film is based on the 1980s TV series of the same name.
The story follows Robert McCall, a retired black ops operative who now works at a hardware store. When he sees a young girl named Teri being abused by her pimp, McCall decides to take matters into his own hands and seek justice for her.
As McCall delves deeper into the criminal underworld, he soon finds himself up against a powerful Russian mobster named Pushkin. With his unique set of skills and unwavering determination, McCall becomes a one-man army as he takes on the mob and fights for justice.
The Equalizer received positive reviews for Washington's performance and the intense action sequences. The film was a commercial success and spawned a sequel in 2018.
