Synopsis

Phillip Sauvage is an American soldier suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder stemming from his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sauvage joins Clarence Bowden, his former commanding officer, to work the bodyguard detail of ex-heavyweight boxing champ and now successful businessman Wayne Barclay.

The release of notorious rap mogul Terrell Singletery from prison has caused Barclay's worried sister Tamara to take action by hiring Bowden and Sauvage, as Singletery has made threats in the past about doing away with the one man responsible for his incarceration -- Barclay himself.

The first night does not go well for Sauvage and Bowden, as Bowden gets killed during an assassination attempt on Barclay by a Hummer full of Uzi-carrying gang-bangers sent by Singletery. It's up to Sauvage to continue the fight, which means bringing in a re-enforcement in his friend Casey Bledsoe, and training some new recruits chosen by Barclay.

In an effort to "give back" to the streets that taught him toughness, Barclay insists that Sauvage use people from Barclay's gym as a team of bodyguards. But will they be enough to take down Singletery?

The soundtrack of The Hard Corps fails to capture the intensity and emotional depth of the characters' struggles with PTSD and the high-stakes situations they find themselves in. The music lacks the gravitas needed to enhance the storytelling and connect with the audience on a deeper level.

8/10

The emotional depth of the soundtrack resonates with the character development of Phillip Sauvage, especially in portraying his struggles with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The haunting melodies and poignant lyrics add a layer of complexity to the story, making the audience empathize with Sauvage's inner turmoil and personal journey.

Laura Baker
1/10

The soundtrack of The Hard Corps lacks cohesion and fails to create a consistent mood throughout the film. The abrupt shifts in musical style and tone make it difficult for viewers to fully immerse themselves in the story, ultimately detracting from the overall viewing experience.

Betty Clark
5/10

The use of rap and hip-hop music in the film's soundtrack adds an authentic urban vibe that complements the gritty atmosphere of the story, immersing the audience in the world of the characters.

Anthony Scott
5/10

Overall, the soundtrack of The Hard Corps contributes significantly to the overall cinematic experience, enhancing the storytelling and keeping the audience engaged from start to finish.

Linda Wilson
3/10

The use of generic hip-hop and rap tracks in the film's soundtrack feels cliché and uninspired, especially considering the complex themes of loyalty, redemption, and revenge explored in the plot. The music choices come off as superficial and do not add any meaningful layers to the character development or overall atmosphere of the movie.

Anthony Phillips
5/10

The musical score in key moments of the film, such as the assassination attempt on Barclay, heightens the emotional impact of the scenes and adds depth to the characters' struggles and motivations.
