Synopsis

To Play the King is a political thriller novel written by Michael Dobbs. It is the sequel to his previous book, House of Cards. The story follows the manipulative and cunning politician Francis Urquhart as he becomes the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Urquhart's power is threatened when a new King is crowned, who is determined to use his influence to make changes in the country. The King's idealistic views clash with Urquhart's ruthless tactics, leading to a power struggle between the two men.

As Urquhart tries to maintain his grip on power, he must navigate through political intrigue, betrayal, and scandal. The novel explores themes of power, corruption, and the lengths people will go to in order to hold onto power.
