Synopsis

Violanchelo is a story about Chelo, an architect who is withdrawing from her social life due to realistic dreams she's having of a romance with a strange man. She is convinced that this man is real and destined to be with her.

Chelo reports a rape to the police and describes the man from her dreams to a sketch artist. The police find a suspect in Marcos, a physician. Chelo insists that Marcos is not the man who raped her, but now she has him in her sights.

Chelo's plan is to make Marcos fall in love with her, but it becomes complicated when she discovers he has a fiancée. As the story unfolds, Marcos also has violent dreams about an unfamiliar woman.

The chronologies overlap and glass breaks as the characters grapple with their conflicting realities. Can a mind lie to itself in the midst of such confusion?

Additionally, the choice of musical genres and styles in the soundtrack felt disjointed and distracting, pulling me out of the intense and suspenseful atmosphere that the film was trying to create. The jarring transitions between different musical tracks disrupted the flow of the movie, making it harder to stay engaged with the plot.

5/10

The soundtrack of Violanchelo effectively captures the mysterious and haunting atmosphere of the story. The use of strings, particularly the cello, adds depth and emotion to key scenes, enhancing the tension and intrigue of Chelo's unraveling reality. The music successfully conveys the sense of unease and confusion that permeates the narrative, drawing the audience deeper into the characters' complex inner worlds.

While the soundtrack of Violanchelo is undeniably atmospheric and evocative, at times it felt overpowering and overshadowed the dialogue and character development. The music, although beautifully composed, occasionally detracted from the subtleties of the plot, making it challenging to fully engage with the intricacies of the overlapping chronologies and conflicting realities presented in the film. A more restrained approach to the score could have allowed the narrative nuances to shine through with greater clarity.

2/10

The soundtrack of Violanchelo failed to capture the emotional depth and complexity of the characters' experiences, resulting in a disconnect between the music and the storyline. The lack of cohesive themes and motifs made it difficult to immerse myself fully in the narrative.
