Sinopsis
La trama: Julia Rainbird, una anciana adinerada, quiere dejar su vasta fortuna a su único presunto heredero vivo, su sobrino ilegítimo, quien fue dado en adopción cuando era un bebé y cuyo paradero e identidad desconoce. En lugar de contratar a un investigador privado para localizarlo, Julia enlista los servicios más discretos de su psíquica, Madame Blanche, para encontrar a su sobrino, con un pago de $10,000 al momento de la entrega.
Lo que Julia no sabe es que Madame Blanche - en realidad Blanche Tyler - es una estafadora, que utiliza información básica de sus objetivos, a menudo descubierta por su novio actor y taxista, George Lumley, para llevar a cabo el engaño. Blanche y George ven estos $10,000 como su boleto de comida, a pesar de tener escasas pistas sobre la identidad y paradero del sobrino. En realidad, el sobrino es Arthur Adamson, un joyero, quien junto con su asociada y novia secreta Fran, han acumulado su propia pequeña fortuna a través del robo de gemas, principalmente secuestrando a los propietarios de las gemas, con las gemas como rescate.
