Sinossi

Un ex rockstar, Johnny Boz, viene brutalmente asesinado durante el sexo, y el caso es asignado al detective Nick Curran del SFPD. Durante la investigación, Nick conoce a Catherine Tramell, una novelista de crímenes que era la novia de Boz cuando murió. Catherine resulta ser una mujer muy astuta y manipuladora, y aunque Nick está más o menos convencido de que ella asesinó a Boz, no puede encontrar ninguna evidencia.

Más tarde, cuando Nilsen, el rival de Nick en la policía, es asesinado, Nick sospecha de la implicación de Catherine en ello. Entonces comienza a jugar un peligroso juego mental lleno de lujuria con Catherine para atraparla, pero a medida que su relación avanza, el número de cuerpos aumenta y evidencias contradictorias obligan a Nick a empezar a cuestionar sus propias sospechas sobre la culpabilidad de Catherine.
