Synopse

Ein ehemaliger Rockstar, Johnny Boz, wird brutal während des Geschlechtsverkehrs getötet, und der Fall wird dem Detective Nick Curran des SFPD zugewiesen.

Während der Ermittlungen trifft Nick auf Catherine Tramell, eine Krimi-Schriftstellerin, die Boz' Freundin war, als er starb.

Catherine erweist sich als sehr kluge und manipulative Frau, und obwohl Nick mehr oder weniger überzeugt ist, dass sie Boz ermordet hat, kann er keine Beweise finden.

Später, als Nilsen, Nicks Rivale bei der Polizei, getötet wird, verdächtigt Nick Catherine's Beteiligung daran.

Er beginnt dann ein gefährliches, von Lust erfülltes psychologisches Spiel mit Catherine zu spielen, um sie zu überführen, aber als ihre Beziehung fortschreitet, steigt die Zahl der Leichen und widersprüchliche Beweise zwingen Nick dazu, seine eigenen Verdächtigungen über Catherines Schuld zu hinterfragen.
