Two childhood friends, Helene and Lucie, are now in their thirties and married. Helene, the more dominant of the two, is a writer and has two young children, a boy and a girl. As a self-confident, mesmerizing blonde, she is also more comfortable with her sexuality than the somewhat insecure and plain-looking brunette Lucie ever was.
One night, Lucie decides to leave her husband over his wish to let their pet dog watch them having sex and stays with Helene and her family. Helene, tired of playing a housewife for her hunky husband whose main fetish about her is her armpit hair, welcomes Lucie with open arms, glad that she can now again be at the center of someone's attention.
Despite Helene's Peeping Tom son who may or may not be jealous of Lucie and the platonic affections she and his mother have for each other, the girls quickly reestablish their old rapport and decide to go on a car trip to the countryside to have some fun. They start to reminisce and playfully discuss their past sexual experiences, both real and imagined, some of which are rather controversial.
Their trip helps them bond further and let off some steam. Lucie opens up a bit, both emotionally and sexually, and concludes that she's content. Helene, however, isn't certain what she wants and continues to combine reality with fantasy, being too ambitious to accept status quo but not courageous enough to actually change something in her life.
