Synopsis

Los Angeles, 1967. Welcome to the Summer of Love. Aquarius stars David Duchovny as Sam Hodiak, a seasoned homicide detective whose investigations dovetail with the activities of real life cult leader Charles Manson in the years before he masterminded the most notorious killings of a generation, the Tate-LaBianca murders.

A small time but charismatic leader with big plans, Manson has begun to build up his "family", recruiting vulnerable young men and women to join his cause. Teaming up with a young cop who will help him infiltrate Manson's circle, Hodiak is forced to see things through the questioning eyes of someone who came of age amongst the current anti-establishment counterculture.

Edgy, addictive and visually stunning, the Age of Aquarius is here.

The soundtrack of Aquarius truly captures the essence of the Summer of Love in Los Angeles, 1967. The music transports me back to that era with its psychedelic tunes and groovy beats, setting the perfect tone for the show's exploration of the counterculture movement.

On the other hand, while the soundtrack effectively creates a vintage atmosphere, it can sometimes feel a bit cliché and predictable. The use of classic rock and folk songs from the period, while fitting, doesn't always bring anything new or innovative to the table, making it feel like a safe choice rather than a bold artistic statement.

Timothy Mitchell
7/10

I appreciate how the soundtrack of Aquarius incorporates a variety of genres from the 1960s, showcasing the diversity of musical influences during that period.

James Martinez
8/10

The music in Aquarius effectively sets the mood for the show, enhancing the suspense and intrigue surrounding the investigations of Sam Hodiak and the activities of Charles Manson.
