Four disabled veteran soldiers participating in the non-profit program, Golshim L'Chaim-Ski To Live, tell their stories, from wounded to empowered, through their week-long experience in Aspen, CO. As guests of the local Jewish community, they overcome the adversity of their various physical limitations and learn to ski and snowboard, and are able to temporarily savor the freedom of being disabled and forgetting that they are different. Their reactions to the experience are inspiring and enlightening. the gift they give to those they touch far exceeds what they receive. I became involved with the program and decided to tell this story because these young people are the inspiration for my own challenge of surviving breast cancer and the ability to overcome fear.
