Teresa Suárez, nicknamed "Gaviota" (Spanish for "Gull"), and her mother Carmenza Suárez, work as harvesters and throughout the year they travel to different farmlands across Colombia searching for work. One, October Gaviota meets Sebastián Vallejo, the grandson of the owner of the farmlands where they work. They fall deeply in love with each other and plan to be together even if it means going against his family's will, but eventually destiny separates them and they must overcome many obstacles to find their way back together.
