Ten years after their unforgettable summer vacation at Jeanne's house, Jeanne has committed suicide and Marielle and her sister Colombe return there for the funeral. At the house, she meets Pascal, a neighbor with whom Jeanne was madly in love, and Leo, Pascal's daughter, who is now nearly twenty years old. During the holidays, all those years ago, Marielle was pregnant and she was too afraid to tell her husband. She has since been divorced and her son, Benjamin, is now the same age as Leo at the time. These people meet again after so many years in a kind of hall of mirrors, where the past and the present reflect each other. During the funeral wake, they revisit the past, wanting to understand why Jeanne committed suicide. Everyone must take some responsibility. Colombe, because she brazenly slept with Pascal. Marielle, who wrote a novel, "The Wall of Fairies", in which she revealed to her readers Jeanne's childhood memories. But it is Pascal who bears the brunt of the blame.
