Synopsis

Marianne is a stage actress married to an orchestra conductor, Markus. She becomes embroiled in an affair with her director's friend David, which leads to a painful divorce and a custody battle over her daughter, Isabelle. Although all of them are merely fictional characters created by Bergman, his experiences become very real and traumatic for him.
