Synopsis

Frame by Frame tells the story of four Afghan photojournalists who navigate the dangerous media landscape of Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001.

During the Taliban rule, taking a photo was considered a crime. However, after the regime's downfall, a fledgling free press emerged, leading to a photography revolution in the country.

As foreign troops and media withdraw from Afghanistan, the country is left to stand on its own, along with its journalists. The film is set in a modern Afghanistan full of color and character, where the photojournalists work to reframe Afghanistan for the world and for themselves.

Through cinema vérité, intimate interviews, powerful photojournalism, and never-before-seen archival footage shot in secret during the Taliban regime, Frame by Frame connects audiences with the four humans in the pursuit of the truth.
