Synopsis

Metamorphosis is a novel written by Franz Kafka that tells the story of Gregor Samsa, a young man who wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect. As Gregor struggles to come to terms with his new form, he must also deal with the reactions of his family and society.

Throughout the novel, Kafka explores themes of alienation, isolation, and the absurdity of human existence. Gregor's transformation serves as a metaphor for the way in which individuals can become disconnected from themselves and others, and the ways in which society can reject those who are different.

As Gregor's condition worsens, his family becomes increasingly resentful of him, viewing him as a burden rather than a loved one. The novel culminates in a tragic and poignant ending, as Gregor's isolation and despair reach their peak.

Metamorphosis is a powerful and thought-provoking work that continues to resonate with readers today, challenging them to consider the nature of identity, humanity, and the ways in which we relate to one another.
