Synopsis

"Shirkers" is a documentary film that tells the story of a group of teenage friends in Singapore who set out to make a movie in the early 1990s. Led by their enigmatic and charismatic leader, Sandi Tan, the group embarks on a journey to create a film called "Shirkers". However, their dreams are shattered when their mentor, an American man named Georges Cardona, disappears with all the footage.

Decades later, Sandi Tan sets out to unravel the mystery of what happened to "Shirkers" and why Georges Cardona stole their film. Through interviews with her former friends and collaborators, as well as archival footage, Sandi Tan pieces together the story of how their film was lost and the impact it had on their lives.

The documentary explores themes of creativity, friendship, betrayal, and the power of art to shape our lives. "Shirkers" is a poignant and captivating film that sheds light on the complexities of the creative process and the lasting effects of betrayal.
