Exceptionally vivid portrait of the family of Václav Vojír, a respected notary and small-town authority, and his self-sacrificing spouse Vera. While husband and wife are quite dissimilar from one another, in their disposition they share not only a serene, pure form of love alongside tenderness and affability, but also mutual respect and admirable ethical principles. This masterfully told and highly original intimate drama about the power of the given word, whose protagonists - inspired by the director's forebears - undergo a difficult ordeal in the summer of 1968, is reinforced by finely wrought, exquisite performances from Martin Finger and Gabriela Mikulková.
