Yellow Earth is a Chinese film directed by Chen Kaige. It tells the story of a soldier named Gu Qing, who is sent to a remote village in Shaanxi province to collect folk songs for the Communist Party. While there, he forms a bond with a young girl named Cuiqiao, who has been betrothed to a stranger. As Gu Qing learns more about the villagers' customs and traditions, he begins to question his own beliefs and values.
