Sinopsis

Los Freelings son una típica familia suburbana. El esposo Steve vende bienes raíces en su subdivisión en constante expansión y Diane es una ama de casa que cuida de sus tres hijos, Dana, Robbie y la pequeña Carol Anne.

Cosas extrañas comienzan a suceder en la casa: las puertas de los armarios se abren solas, los muebles se reorganizan y las sillas se deslizan por el suelo de la cocina. Al principio es un poco de capricho, pero pronto se vuelve mortalmente serio cuando Carol Anne desaparece en un mundo de ultratumba donde, curiosamente, solo se puede comunicar a través del ruido blanco en su televisión.

Un equipo de investigadores paranormales se muda a la casa, pero las fuerzas que secuestraron a Carol Anne son malévolas y poderosas, requiriendo los servicios de Tangina, una mujer que ha lidiado con esta situación antes.
