Sinopse

Em 1865, à medida que a Guerra Civil Americana se aproxima inexoravelmente do fim, o presidente dos Estados Unidos, Abraham Lincoln, se esforça para conseguir a aprovação da emenda constitucional histórica que banirá para sempre a escravidão dos Estados Unidos.

No entanto, sua tarefa é uma corrida contra o tempo, pois a paz pode chegar a qualquer momento e, se chegar antes da aprovação da emenda, os estados do sul que retornam atrasarão sua aprovação até que seja tarde demais.

Lincoln deve, por quase todos os meios possíveis, obter votos suficientes de um Congresso recalcitrante antes que a paz chegue e seja tarde demais.
