Angry Harvest is a story set in the winter of 1942-43, where a Jewish family escapes from a train passing through Silesia. They become separated in the woods, and a local peasant named Leon, who is now a wealthy farmer, finds the woman, Rosa, and hides her in his cellar.
Leon, a middle-aged Catholic bachelor, is struggling with his sexual desires. He keeps from Rosa the fact that he has seen signs indicating her husband is still alive, and he pleads with her to love him instead. Rosa agrees to be with Leon if he helps a local Jew in hiding who is in need of money.
Leon agrees to help and a love affair blossoms between Rosa and him. However, Leon's peasant background and lack of empathy ultimately lead to a tragic outcome. As the war comes to an end, a glimmer of hope emerges from an unexpected source.
