Glory Days tells the story of a young novelist who returns to his rural roots after his father's mysterious death, seeking inspiration and answers to his writer's block.
During his ferry trip to Glory, a person goes overboard and dies, sparking suspicions in the novelist's mind. His bestselling first novel had exposed the dark side of his hometown, leading to anger from the locals upon his return.
He seeks help from the strong-willed and beautiful local coroner, Poppy Montgomery, as he delves into the secrets of Glory. The novelist hero, Mike Cahill, mirrors the life of acclaimed novelist Dave Grubb, who used "Glory" as a fictionalized version of Moundsville, West Virginia in his writing.
Grubb, a descendant of a prominent family in Moundsville, drew inspiration from the town's history for his works, including the award-winning novel _Night of the Hunter, The (1955)_. Like Cahill, Grubb's portrayal of Glory's flaws, such as corruption and racism, made him a controversial figure in his hometown.
