Taylor Haldway accepts a plea from his sister Jessica, whose nannies agency is all booked around Christmas, by taking a last minute client: event planner Celeste Everette, who raises her late sister's pre-teen daughter Finley in a mix of copying and blind military style 'efficiency' with schedules and backups for every single minute. Taylor soon wins Finley's grateful devotion as he gets Celeste to relax into a more humane private life for both. As Finley, Jessica and Celeste's firm deputy Molly soon spot, Taylor is a far better match for Celeste then her fellow-workaholic lawyer fiance Brandon, and maybe vice-versa, as the bond over him having lost his parents and raised six younger siblings. His discrete literary activity proves relevant as her major client, publisher Hanna Duvall, demands signing up authors, notably the elusive writer of Finley's favorite books.
