Synopsis

Can a 12-year-old boy who wishes he were a girl navigate the mean streets of Manila? Maxi cooks, cleans and sews for her father and her older brothers, who are petty criminals. He's sweet, smart and hardworking, he's comfortable being gay, he pins a flower in his hair, sways his hips when he walks, vapes with friends. He has seen adults hugging and kissing and seen romantic movies, so on the brink of puberty, he falls for Victor, a kind young policeman. Maxi's heart and loyalty are on a collision course: Victor investigates the crimes that lead him to Maxi's family. In the morning land, is there a place for this child of the sun to return?
