Synopsis

Somewhere in a small village of early-1960s Chios, as yet another challenging school year is drawing to a close, the mischievous fourth-graders and bosom buddies since first grade, Yannis and Vagelis, can't wait to be off on their vacation.

However, an unfortunate incident combined with a minor misunderstanding will pave the way for an entirely different summer. As a result, the boys will have to go their separate ways; one assists his mother during the dog days of summer in the harvesting of the mastic resin, while the other, takes great joy in roaming the empty streets of the community, trying to escape from his despotic mother.

Nevertheless, once a friend, always a friend. Why should a petty fault stop that, and blemish an unforgettable summer of fun, adventure, and above all, innocence?

3/10

The soundtrack for The Tree We Hurt lacked emotional depth and failed to capture the nostalgic essence of the early-1960s setting on Chios.

Donna Davis

The use of traditional Greek instruments in the soundtrack adds an authentic and immersive quality to the film, transporting the audience to the early 1960s setting of Chios. The melodies are both uplifting and poignant, enhancing the storytelling and creating a powerful connection with the audience.

Andrew Parker

The lack of memorable melodies or themes made the soundtrack forgettable and failed to leave a lasting impression, missing an opportunity to elevate the storytelling.

Emily Clark

The soundtrack of The Tree We Hurt perfectly captures the nostalgic and innocent atmosphere of a small village in early-1960s Chios. The music transports the listener to a simpler time, filled with childhood adventures and mischievous antics. The use of traditional Greek instruments adds an authentic and charming touch to the overall sound.

4/10

The music felt disconnected from the storyline and did not enhance the overall viewing experience, leaving me feeling detached from the characters' journey.

Dorothy White
7/10

The soundtrack of The Tree We Hurt perfectly captures the nostalgic and innocent spirit of childhood in a small village. The music evokes a sense of warmth and camaraderie among the characters, enhancing the emotional depth of the story.

On the other hand, while the music effectively sets the mood for the film, some tracks may feel repetitive and lack variation. The lack of diversity in the musical themes could potentially make the listening experience less engaging over time. Despite this, the overall emotional depth and sincerity of the soundtrack manage to resonate with the audience and enhance the storytelling of the film.
