Kästner and Little Tuesday Soundtrack (2016)

Synopsis

Berlin, 1929: The writer Erich Kästner enjoys the success of his first children's book. One day, a seven-year-old fan mail writer shows up at his door. At first, the childless bon vivant Kästner had little use for Hans' admiration. However, he soon realizes that the clever boy's fertile imagination can be useful for new stories. Being close to his famous author in this way becomes the greatest happiness of Hans, who grows up with his mother and sister without a father. When "Emil and the Detectives" was filmed by Ufa, a dream came true for him: he was allowed to play "little Tuesday" - and from then on he lost his nickname. When the Nazis seized power, Kästner feared for his life. In order not to endanger the boy, he ends the contact with a lie. While "little Tuesday" thinks his idol has gone into exile like many others, he has stayed in Berlin. Kästner, who like his friend Erich Ohser works under a pseudonym, stays out of anything political. Hans, on the other hand, joins the Hitler Youth in order not to attract attention. When the two meet again years later, their friendship is put to the test.
