Land of Storms tells the story of Szabolcs, a talented but passionless football player in an amateur German team. During a match, he mangles a play and is sent off, causing a league scout to leave. This leads to Szabolcs picking a fight with his best friend Bernard and ultimately quitting the team.
One night, Szabolcs catches Áron, a local from a nearby village who cares for his invalid mother, attempting to steal his scooter. Despite this rocky start, Szabolcs helps Áron build a home and their relationship takes a romantic turn, with both men becoming sexually aroused.
As their relationship deepens, Áron tells his mother about Szabolcs, which leads to backlash from the conservative community. Unable to handle the guilt of not being there for his mother and facing hostility from the villagers, Szabolcs returns to Áron. However, their reunion is not the same as before.
